Non-Discrimination Ordinance Denied

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS - After months of emotional testimony, the Billings City Council voted against the proposed Non-Discrimination Ordinance.

The first person to testify on behalf of the NDO took the stand Monday night at 9:20, and after discussing the proposed ordinance and its language the council was split 5-to-5 and 3:00 AM on Tuesday. The split decision left Mayor Tom Hanel as the last person to decide whether to move forward with the NDO. As Mayor Hanel addressed the crowd, he said it was a hard decision, but due to the existing language, he was not able to move forward with the NDO at this time.
