NBCRightNow.com - Being out in this heat, especially working can be brutal, but there are some people in the area that work in quite opposite conditions.

Summer is a busy time at Reddy Ice in Kennewick and while workers are loading and delivering ice around town six to seven days a week for 12 hour days, they get a little break from the heat while inside the coolers on the trucks and distribution center.

Kevin Westphall, Reddy Ice Supervisor said, "We ship an average of 7,000 to 8,000 bags per day right now to our stores and our customers."

He added, "come in here probably about 15 minutes, 30 minutes just to cool down, it feels great in here, while everyone is suffering, it's about 16 degrees inside of here right now."

Meanwhile over at Knutzen's Meats in Pasco, they also have a great place to escape the triple digit weather.

"It is a nice break from the heat outside, this time of year, we have a lot of machines out here that we have to keep cool, we'll spray them down every now and then because they're working double time to try to keep it cold and keep all the meats at the right temperature here," Caleb Knutzens said.

But few people have a colder job than the folks over at Columbia Colstore in Finley.

"It feels really good when you first get here, you're used to it year round, when you step outside and go home that's when it's the roughest because it's so hot," Anthony Cooke said.

Inside the Colstore storage wearhouse it's a frigid negative 10 degrees, workers on forklifts wear freezer suits, complete with gloves, hoods and masks.

"So your body just takes a little while to adjust to it but it's nice when you come to work for sure."
