Woman Stabbed in Downtown Billings

BILLINGS - According to the Billings Police Department, officers responded to a report of a stabbing just before 3 A.M. near 2301 Montana Ave.

A 41-year-old woman said she was walking in the alley behind 2301 Montana Ave., when a man approached her from behind and stabbed her three times.

The woman was able to get away from the suspect and approached a man in the area and asked him to call 911. She gave a description of the suspect to officers as she was being treated by AMR.

The suspect, identified as 59 year old Johnny Tillman of Billings, was located a block away and fit the description given by the woman. Also, the suspect had evidence on him which connected him to the crime.

Tillman is being held in Yellowstone County Detention Facility, remanded for aggravated assault.

The 41-year-old woman is being treated at Billings Clinic and is in stable condition at this time.

Billings PD doesn't know if the suspect and victim knew each other prior to the event. The investigation is ongoing.
