Fireworks Complaints for Fourth of July

Posted: Updated:

Even though Billings Police didn't get as many complaints about fireworks this year, it was still a busy weekend.

Lt. Kevin Iffland says they got around 251 calls about fireworks, a 12 percent decrease from last year. According to Iffland, the complaints about fireworks usually spike on the 4th of July, and since it was on a Friday, the calls were concentrated on the same day.

"Hopefully you know, the general public out there is taking advantage of the public displays of fireworks mitigating some of those calls that we did have to respond to," Lt. Iffland said.

Iffland says 25 citations were handed out for fireworks violations within city limits.

There's plenty happening in the region this Labor Day weekend. An annual fun run in Red Lodge attracts around 1,000 people, but it isn't your typical run.
