Billings Area Pond Tour Benefits ZooMontana

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS -

People had the opportunity to learn about the many ponds in our area during the first ever Billings Area Pond Tour.

The event was spearheaded by the Billings Area Water Skippers Pond Club. The group guided spectators on a tour through Joliet, Laurel, and Billings to see the different ponds. All proceeds from the event are going to benefit ZooMontana. Executive Director Jeff Ewelt says it's an opportunity for people to learn how to build their own pond.

"Billings is a hot pond town,” Ewelt said. “There’re a lot of ponds going, a lot of people interested in ponds. A lot of building going on right now has ponds as well. So you have a great opportunity to go and see some of those incredible ponds in people's backyards."

Ewelt says ponds are also great educational tools for kids as they can test water and learn about the different species living in ponds.
