Free Sports Camp in Lockwood

Posted: Updated:
LOCKWOOD -

The Fellowship Baptist Church is sponsoring a free sports camp for kids in the Billings area.

The camp will bring experienced coaches from Montana and across the nation, like Georgia and Alabama, for football, basketball, and soccer training. One of the coaches once played for the Miami Dolphins. The coordinator says the camp is to help kids develop sports and social skills.

"The children sure love to play,” says Pastor Ray Willis. “They want to be involved. And so we thought, hey this is a great way to help the kids in Lockwood and the Billings area to gain some of these skills that will allow them to play grade school and high school ball.”

The camp takes place July 21-25. Willis says pre-registration is required and if you register by July 9, you can get a T-shirt.

Applications can be picked up at Fellowship Baptist Church at 423 Westgate or at Lockwood Schools administration office. If you have any questions, you can call Willis at 406-855-4265.

Streets that run for several blocks, without a single street light. It is a dark reality many residents throughout the Magic City face when the sun goes down. Leo Robinson lives on Monad Rd., east of 24th Street. He said if street lights were placed on Monad, safety for everyone would improve. Terry Smith, City Traffic Engineer, said the city is more than willing to work with anyone, on any street, which lacks street lights.

Hundreds of Hells Angels are coming to Cody for a national meeting this week. The motorcycle club apparently likes the northwest Wyoming town. They held their world run there in 2006. Police presence is heavy in Cody now.
