BILLINGS - The Friendship House of Christian Service helps underprivileged kids on the south side of Billings in a variety of ways, and this summer -- they've expanded their garden for kids to use.

The Friendship House provides a place for disadvantaged kids to thrive. Volunteers and teachers help kids in grades K-6th grade with everything from reading to activities, and this year, they're teaching kids the basics of gardening.

Program director Jessica Sprattler said there are also cooking classes for the kids' parents to use the produce.

"Our kids really enjoy it -- it's something new and different for a lot of them," she said. "It's exciting -- we have lots of leftover stuff so they get to take it home. There are kind of all aspects, planting it, taking care of it, and then also selling it. The kids love it, the parents are really pleased with it."

The kids sell produce at the gardener's market at South Park. You can find the Friendship House booth every Thursday from 4:30 - 6:30 PM at South Park.
