BILLINGS, Mont. -

The Attorney General's office is warning residents about home repair scams that pop up in Montana this time of year. The home repair scams typically include asphalt and seal-coating work, roofing, siding and storm-related repair work.

The office of consumer protection says tip-offs for fly-by-night home repair improvements cons include: arrival in an unmarked vehicle, they claim to have finished a job nearby and have material left over, high-pressure sales tactics, they demand payment up front, refuse to give a written estimate, and contract or references, and they provide low bids and they claim to be able to start the next day.
