A woman accused of attacking her husband with a cleaver appears in court.

Shery Downs, 52, also known as Shery Brooks, is charged with assault with a weapon. Court documents indicate officers responded to an assault Monday evening and found Downs' husband sitting outside the home with a towel over his face. Officers say they saw blood on the ground and on the towel.

In an interview, her husband told officers she was mad with him for urinating on the bathroom floor. Court documents show she cut her husband across the face with a cleaver and even said she hoped he would die.

Downs told officers her husband cut himself and her fingerprints would be on the knife because she used it to cut meat.
