Summer Reading

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS - A group of Billings businesses are teaming up with the United Way to promote summer reading for kids.

The United Way kicked off its "REadCYCLE" program, where businesses, churches and community members can donate new or used books to kids in need.

Businesses like CHS, Wells Fargo and others, donated boxes of reading materials to help kids, with limited access to books, read more this summer. Most of the books will go to the Friendship House, which provides services and programs for kids on the south side of Billings.

"This is kind of a pilot project to see how this works in our community," said Matt Lundgren, Executive Director of the Friendship House. "We're hoping that this will be a good first step to try to get kids to read more, because so many kids lose so much in the summer because they're not reading."

If you have any new or used books you would like to donate, you can drop them off at the United Way on Overland Avenue.
