BILLINGS -

Downtown Billings is going to be a busy place Saturday.

The Downtown Billings Alliance is holding its annual Strawberry Festival. Organizers there will be the food, lots of activities, and strawberry shortcake everyone loves. New this year is an artist square. Artists are invited to work in the open, as a part of the DBA’s initiative to incorporate public art.

"It just kind of enriches the environment, the aesthetic,” said Natasha Potratz, DBA director of art and events. “But that inspires people and it kind of helps facilitate a love for your community and your city and that's what we're trying to do here in downtown Billings."

The March Against Drugs and Violence will start at 11:30 on the Yellowstone County Courthouse Lawn. This year's event will focus on efforts, including education, fighting prescription drug abuse. The march will start at noon.

"It’s a very preventable problem,” said Brian Dennis, president and CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Yellowstone County. “The primary source of these misused medications are having them in the home. You know, people have leftover painkillers or this, that, and the other. By getting rid of those things and that sort of stuff, it just makes it better for our kids and our family."

The Heart and Sole Run is also Saturday. The different runs starts in front of St. Vincent Healthcare and ends at Dehler Park. At Dehler Park is the Montana Active Life Festival from 8 am to 12 pm. Proceeds from the event benefit BikeNet.
