BBQ Celebrates Cancer Survivors

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS - Billings Clinic hosts its annual cancer survivor barbeque on Thursday, June 12 from 5-7 PM. The event's food is free, and anyone can come support people in our community affected by cancer.

The event celebrates survivors like Dawn Ramlow, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last summer.

Following the news of Angelina Jolie's double mastectomy, Ramlow performed a self breast exam, and made a trip to the doctor. After a few surgeries, eight rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatment, Ramlow's cancer was declared in remission this January. She says the friendships she's made with doctors and other survivors make events like this BBQ very special.

"It's hard to put into words how you feel unless you've actually been on that other side," she said. "Gathering together as survivors at any event is a very worthwhile cause."

The BBQ is open to the public and all food is free. The event starts at 5 pm on the south side of the Billings Clinic hospital -- across from the Cherry Tree Inn.
