Island Adventure Run Benefits Family Tree Center

BILLINGS -

Saturday morning, runners had to wade through water and crawl over hay bales in a race to the finish line.

It’s the Family Tree Center's second annual Island Adventure Run. Participants go through the 5K obstacle course at Riverfront Park, crossing water, doing push-ups and sit-ups, and jumping over hurdles, all to raise money for the organization.

"As a family doctor, I really believe in prevention and I think the more that we can do to keep kids healthy, happy and to give them a childhood they deserve, and to support families in parenting and nurturing their kids is so, so important," said Jennell Dewey, a Family Tree Center board member.

The event also had a kid’s run and other activities on the side. Organizers say they hope next year's event brings more families to have fun.
