Man Changes Plea for Having Sex With a Minor

BILLINGS -

A Billings man admits to having sex with a girl who was 15 in 2011.

Daniel Birns is charged with one count of sexual intercourse without consent. The second charge of sexual intercourse without consent is expected to be dismissed at sentencing.

According to court records, Facebook's safety team suspected Birns of the crime due to the frequency of outgoing correspondence with minors. The team found messages showing Birns and a minor engaged in illicit sexual activity. They turned the information over to the Billings Police Department to be investigated, and that eventually led to the arrest of Birns.
