Six Workers Receiving Medical Evaluations Following Reports of Chemical Vapors at Hanford

UPDATE/HANFORD, WA - The two Washington River Protection Solutions employees examined at Kadlec Medical Center Thursday following reports of chemical vapors in two Hanford tank farms were cleared to return to work Friday.

HANFORD, WA - Four of the six Washington River Protection Solutions employees evaluated by medical professionals Thursday have been cleared to return to work. 
The workers were taken to the onsite medical provider for evaluation following reports of chemical vapors in two Hanford tank farms. 
One of the six workers was sent to Kadlec Medical Regional Center in Richland for further evaluation. A second worker who had no symptoms, but was sent to the onsite medical facility as a precautionary measure, later requested an evaluation at Kadlec. Both workers were examined at Kadlec without being admitted and both workers were released. 
The two workers that went to Kadlec will need to be evaluated by the onsite medical provider before they are cleared to return to work.

HANFORD, WA - Six workers for Washington River Protection Solutions are receiving medical evaluation following reports of chemical vapors in two Hanford tank farms. Five of the workers reported symptoms typically related to chemical vapors; one was sent for evaluation as a precautionary measure.
One of the six seen at the onsite medical provider has been sent to Kadlec Medical Center for further evaluation.
The employees were working in or near Hanford's AP and SY Tank Farms when vapors were reported. All workers immediately exited the area and moved upwind. 
Industrial hygiene technicians have entered the farms in protective gear to take samples and check for potential sources.
