Election Office Preparation

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS, Mont. - All across Montana, election offices are preparing for the June 3rd primary.  Polling locations will be open from 7 AM to PM.

Here in Yellowstone County, Election Administrator Bret Rutherford says his office is ready for the big day.

Over 45,000 absentee ballots were sent out to registered voters and his office has been going through the ones being mailed in or turned in at the office.

Rutherford says to register, voters will now have to come to the court house or on election day, they can register on site at the MetraPark.

MetraPark is a city wide polling place because neighborhood community places, such as post offices and schools, would only see three our four people showing up to vote, while poll workers were there for 14 hours.

For people voting via absentee ballot, Rutherford has one piece of advice: don't mail in both ballots in your secrecy envelope. If you mail both, your vote will not be counted.
