Zip Line Adventure in Billings

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS -

With the weather warming up, people are looking for more things to do outdoors. A new space in town hopes to help visitors and residents connect to nature in a new way.

Outlaw Canyon Adventures started as a request from Gary Rylander's mother, Beulah Rylander, who's 86 years young.

"She wanted to ride a zip line last summer before she and my youngest daughter went to Sweden for a month,” Gary said. “She said I want to do a zip line when I get back, find me one and that started conversations with my other daughter.”

Zip-lining was on grandma Beulah's bucket list. “I filled another one today,” she said. “I went on all 6. It doesn't matter age either.”

This new zip line tour is located six miles from downtown Billings and has six zip lines. One of them is the longest in the state and it’s called the Tearjerker. It’s a little less than 1000 feet long and you can go up to 35 miles per hour.

"A lot of people like to go out and hike the Rims, walk around town and do things but they don't get to really explore nature," Gary said. "Montana is outdoors. You want to do something outdoors, everyone's going elsewhere. There’s plenty of things to do, there should be plenty of things to do in Billings."

Beulah says she is happy with the results. “The whole atmosphere is happy and good and fun, so it's come a long way."
