Hong Kong Commissioner Visits Magic City

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS - The Far East met the Big Sky State in Billings on Thursday.

The Hong Kong Economic Commissioner was in the Magic City to promote business opportunities.

He is also here to share with business leaders ways to get into the Hong Kong marketplace.

"Hong Kong is a good place to do business, we are very free. There are no restrictions on capital movement and we have a very strong financial and very sophisticated financial infrastructure to really help companies in Montana succeed," says Mr. Clement Leung, Hong Kong Commissioner for Economic and Trade Affairs, USA.

"We are the number 6 market for U.S. agricultural products, number 5 for U.S. beef, and number 4 for pre-packaged ready to eat consumer high-valued food products. So, this is particularly relevant and important for states like Montana."

This was the Commissioner's first official visit to Montana, but he did vacation in Yellowstone National Park and Montana one year, and was one of his family's best vacations.

Streets that run for several blocks, without a single street light. It is a dark reality many residents throughout the Magic City face when the sun goes down. Leo Robinson lives on Monad Rd., east of 24th Street. He said if street lights were placed on Monad, safety for everyone would improve. Terry Smith, City Traffic Engineer, said the city is more than willing to work with anyone, on any street, which lacks street lights.
