National Women Build Week

Posted: Updated:

Habitat for Humanity is celebrating "National Women Build Week".

More than 20 volunteers -- the majority of them women -- have been putting hours of work into Michelle O'Neal's future home.

O'Neal herself has been a Habitat volunteer for over two years, and has earned the opportunity to help build her own home.

After having seen so many Habitat home recipients come to tears when they enter their new home, now that it's her turn, she has a whole new appreciation.

"It's a completely new chapter in our life and my kids and I are ecstatic. We can't wait. It's fifty-three days and counting. Umm, grateful, extremely grateful that we got this opportunity to move into a house,” says O’Neal.

Construction on the O’Neal family home began in January and is expected to wrap up sometime in June.

Michelle O’Neal is the mother of a twelve-year-old son and two daughters -- a three-year-old and a one-year-old.
