Bids Entered for Zimmerman Trail Construction

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS -

The Montana Department of Transportation opened bids for work on Zimmerman Trail. According to MDT three companies put in bids for the work. The low bid came from Geo-Stabilization International LLC at just over $718,000. The other two bids were $1.2 million and $5.8 million.

The Transportation Commission will meet Friday afternoon to review the bids. The contractor chosen will work on tearing down some of the rocks along Zimmerman Trail and bolting others to the rock face.

Once that work is done the City of Billings can repair the road and guardrail damaged by a rockslide in March. The city hopes to have Zimmerman Trail re-opened to traffic at the end of June.
