Walk MS Connects the Community

BILLINGS - Despite a chilly morning, organizers say nearly 1,000 people turned out for this year's Walk MS, an event dedicated to raising funds for those living with multiple sclerosis.

According to organizers, the money raised goes to the National MS Society.

Trisha Payer's father was diagnosed with MS 12 years ago. When her daughter, Alyson, saw how the disease affected him, she was inspired to start fundraising by holding lemonade stands and getting her church involved. According to the family, they raised $1,400 for Trisha's father.

"He's so strong and has kept going," Trisha said. "And he hasn't allowed it to stop him. He still farms and he's just really a fighter, which inspires our family to keep looking and fighting for a cure, helping him, and help others like him who go through the same thing."

"It just means that people want to just show everyone that MS, it will have a cure someday," Alyson said. "And when that day comes, everyone's going to be so happy."

According to the family, they hope to participate again in the following years.
