Garfield School Receives Historic Honor

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS - Situated along 1st Ave South between South 32nd and 33rd Street , Garfield School has seen many students pass through its doors since its inception in 1902.

Shawn Byrne, COO for the Community Based Services with The Yellowstone Boys and Girls ranch says Garfield School is steeped in a rich educational and community service oriented tradition. Byrne says it just made since to take up the cause of preserving the building after it closed its doors to students in 2008.

Jim Ronquillo and Jim Reno are two well know Yellowstone Countians who passed through the doors of Garfield.  They both say memories made in the 1st through 9th grade school are fresh in their minds. They are both happy the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, along with other community organizations have taken up the cause to preserve this historic building.
