BILLINGS - The Shriners held their spring children's screening clinic today to identify potential patients who need pediatric care for the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

If a child has a condition one of the 22 Shriners Hospitals can treat, medical experts will meet with the parents to set up an appointment for them. The Shriners say most of the medical conditions these children have are orthopedic.

Organizers say it's very rewarding to provide the service free of charge.

"There are so many kids out there that go by the wayside and aren't treated," said Mike Redenius, Al Bedoo Shrine Hospital Corps chairman. "We go out of our way to find those kids. But we also have recommendations from doctors too in the area, in eastern Montana, so it's a combined effort."

According to organizers, nine children were screened at RiverStone Health Saturday.
