BILLINGS - Depending on your age, you may call it Eastern or even MSUB. But, no matter what you call it, Montana State University Billings named an interim chancellor.

Dr. Sheila Stearns will take over for Rolph Groseth who has served as MSU Billings' Chancellor since 2010. Dr. Stearns is a Glendive native who received her Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate degrees from the University of Montana. According to Montana State University President, Waded Cruzado, Stearns will take over duties on May 5th, and a permanent replacement will likely be named by the beginning of July.

Dr. Stearns retired in 2012 as Montana's Commissioner of higher education and has since been a senior fellow and consultant for the association of governing boards. She also served as Montana's commissioner of higher education from 2003 to 2012. Prior to that, she was provost and then chancellor of Western Montana College in Dillon.
