Veteran Volunteers at Rocky Mountain Hospice

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS -

A local veteran is giving back by spending time with veterans in hospice care during this national volunteer month.

Dennis Kramer, a former Marine, volunteers his time at Rocky Mountain Hospice. Kramer said his military background allows him to more effectively communicate with veterans about their life experiences. He said his greatest rewards are the smiles he receives from the veterans as they tell their stories.

"As a volunteer, all you have to be is a ready ear with these folks, and they can open up and they're happy to talk to you, so it's happy for me. I'm glad I get to listen to their stories," said Kramer.

Rocky Mountain Hospice asks its volunteers to donate only four hours a month. If you're interested, you can call 294-0785.
