An Out of This World Visit

BILLINGS, Mont. -

Apollo 7 astronaut, Walter Cunningham, was a member of the longest, most successful test flight in spacecraft history.

Cunningham spoke at Rocky Aviation at Logan Airport about the current NASA program, his experiences while in orbit, and even touched on Global Warming.

Cunningham says he would like to see NASA continue exploring space and would love to see a man walk on Mars some day.

He said he is most proud of the sheer fact NASA was able to send humans to the moon.

"I think what I like most about it was the contribution we were able to make on a program that is just an amazing thing that we set out to do. Everybody thought it was impossible, and we went through the technology, we made it possible, and we did it," said Cunningham.

Cunningham says he orbited the earth 163 times before he ever left the United States to go to Europe.

His crew received an Emmy for the first live television broadcast from space.

Halvorson said.  For the 14-year-old,  her volunteer work helping at nursing homes has made her friends and memories to last, and her hard work hasn't gone unnoticed.
