Donation to St. V's Means New Life-Saving Technology

BILLINGS -

A large donation to a local hospital will allow for new technology to help battle cancer.

St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation will receive a $4.2 million gift from The Leona M. And Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust. The money will be used to buy a CyberKnife Radiosurgery System for the Frontier Cancer Center.

In addition, the Sisters of the Charity of Leavenworth Health System will invest a million dollars in the project.

The CyberKnife helps destroy tumors anywhere in the body with intense, highly focused beams of radiation. The technology is accurate and allows doctors to pinpoint and remove cancerous tumors.

This comes after a $5.2 million gift from the Helmsley Charitable Trust last year to help upgrade the Big Horn Basin Regional Cancer Center radiation therapy equipment in Cody, Wyoming.

Susanne Rodell faced a difficult situation. Hail storm damage to her roof led to an insurance claim being filed. Rodell picked a local contractor to fix her roof, but mother nature did not cooperate. While the roofing company was in the middle of fixing her roof, a weekend of rain caused water damage to dry wall and ceilings within the house.
