Suspects in Chase Enter Pleas in Court

Two men who fled from police in Laurel last month entered pleas in court Tuesday.

18-year-old Austin Allery pled not guilty to charges of assault on a peace officer, theft, attempted theft, criminal mischief, and obstructing a peace officer.

19-year-old Hayden Lowry pled not guilty to charges of robbery, criminal endangerment, and criminal mischief.

Court documents show on February 24th, Laurel Police responded to a call that two men police had been searching for were at the Laurel Walmart. When officers approached them, police say the two men gave fake identities. After the officer tried to handcuff Allery the two teenagers ran.

Allery got into a police car and put it into drive. An officer and Allery fought and police then handcuffed Allery.

Lowry allegedly stole a truck at gunpoint. A sheriff's deputy shot three times into the vehicle. Lowry was shot in the hand but managed to take off driving at high speeds with authorities following him. After driving over spike strips, Lowry drove on flat tires until he lost control of the truck and crashed on Old Highway 10.
