Man Injured in Avalanche

A 28-year-old man was seriously injured today after another avalanche was triggered near Cooke City.

According to Park County Dispatch, a call came in from the International Emergency Response Coordination Center around 3:00 PM. Dispatchers reported an SOS Device was activated between Mount Abundance and Wolverine Peak. Dispatchers were initially told that one man was buried and 13 snowmobilers were affected by the snowy blast.

Members of the Park County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team responded, and the man who was buried was quickly located. Officials reported he experienced significant injuries and will likely need a medical helicopter. At last word, the buried man was last taken to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.
