Two Men Rescued From Flood Waters Near Savage

Two men were rescued early Tuesday morning due to flood conditions.

According to the Sidney Herald, Jason Nelson and Dennis Schmeirer were checking river levels near Savage

They got trapped by rising waters and they could see ice chunks going by.

According to the paper, the Richland County Sheriff's office got a call around 9:45 Monday night.

The two were trapped more than 500 yards from dry land.

The water got as high as the pick-up trucks doors.

The sheriff's office got help from the US Air Force Base in Minot, North Dakota, who sent a rescue helicopter.

The helicopter got to them around 2:30 Tuesday morning.

Both men were checked out and were okay.
