BBB Warns of Auto Shipping Scam in Billings

Posted: Updated:

The Better Business Bureau wants to warn you about an auto shipping scam claiming to be out of Billings.

Buyers say they've gone to legitimate sites like CarsForSale.com and AutoTrader.com to find vehicles.

Some are priced lower than expected.

The seller provides pictures and likely fake documents.

The seller then wants to use a company called "Billings United" to act as the escrow agent and to process shipping.

According to the BBB -- "Billings United" does not exist. It once used an address which was the U.S. Marshals' Office in downtown and now is using an address of a warehouse run by another business.

"Billings United appears to be in Russia.

The BBB wants to remind everyone if the price seems to good to be true -- there is usually something wrong.
