Wyoming Budget Battle

CHEYENNE, WYOMING -

Lawmakers in Wyoming are negotiating a new budget.

So far, the House and Senate agreed to pay raises for state employees but will not consider a study on the expansion of the Medicaid program.

The two sides met to resolve differences in amendments to the budget bill.

Executive branch state employees will get a 2.4% pay raise which costs about 40 million dollars.

School employees will get smaller raises but they will also have to start paying to help cover the cost of their state retirement.
