BILLINGS -

More details on the officer-involved shooting and car chase that took place Monday are surfacing from court documents filed Wednesday.

18-year-old Austin Allery faces charges of assault on a peace officer, theft, criminal mischief, and obstructing a peace officer.

19-year-old Hayden Lowry faces charges of robbery, criminal endangerment, and criminal mischief.

Court documents show Laurel police responded to a call that the two men officers had been searching for were at the Laurel Walmart. When officers approached them, police say the suspects gave fake identities. Documents indicate Allery told the officer his name was Derek Richardson and was born in June of 2010.

When the officer asked him to clarify his birthday, Allery allegedly said he was bad at math. After the officer tried to handcuff Allery, the two men ran.

Allery got into a police car and put it into drive, but an officer sat on Allery's leg and stopped the car. The two fought and police then handcuffed Allery.

The estimated damage to the car is more than $1,500.

Lowry, on the other hand, ran to a nearby Pizza Hut, and allegedly stole a truck at gunpoint.

A sheriff's deputy shot three times into the car. Lowry was shot in the hand, and he took off driving at high speeds with authorities following him.

After driving over spike strips, Lowry drove for awhile on flat tires

He eventually lost control of the car and crashed on Old Highway 10.

Firefighters are wrapping up their work on a blaze northwest of Cody. The Dillworth Fire, which was visible from the Chief Joseph Highway, grew to only six acres. It’s indicative of the mild fire season in the Shoshone National Forest and Yellowstone so far this summer.
