Ponderosa Elementary Fundraiser

BILLINGS -

Ponderosa Elementary School has its sight set on building an outdoor classroom.

To raise money for the project, the school is holding a fundraiser at the Depot, next Friday, the 28th.

The event is for adults only and there will be a live and silent auction that includes donated prizes with a total value of over $20,000.

Principal, Lori Booke, and PTA President, Tiva Townsend say an outdoor classroom is a great way to engage their students, and really anchor them to their education.

"We are raising funds to build an outdoor classroom and to just give another option for teachers to take their class out and sit outside, do a math lesson, a science lesson," says Booke.

Townsend says, "Sometimes a change of environment is all you need to make all the difference in the world, so it's just another tool for our Principal, for the teachers to reach the kids and for the kids to have another way to enjoy their education."

Again, the fundraiser is at the depot on Friday, February 28th.

Individual tickets are $40.00, but you may want to hurry because tickets are running out.

If you can't make it to the event, but would still like to make a donation, you can call the school at 281-6218.
