BILLINGS -

The first of two "Get Out, Get Covered" sessions by PacificSource Health Plans takes place Monday night at Off The Leaf.

The "Get Out, Get Covered" tour is an effort to raise awareness about the importance of health insurance, and to get people enrolled before the March 31st open enrollment deadline in Montana.

Spokesperson Julia Gustafson says if you're not covered by the deadline, you'll face a penalty of $95 or one percent of your annual income. And for every year a person isn't covered, that penalty will increase.

Gustafson says if you miss the March 31st deadline, you have to wait until the next open enrollment period in the fall, but you won't be covered until 2015.

Gustafson says there are many benefits to being covered by a healthcare plan.

"Hey, my kid is coughing and his snot looks like this. You know, do I take him to the ER? Do I wait and go to the doctor? There's a lot of benefits to having coverage. A lot of people, it's been hard to get coverage, so you might wait and put it off, but I think it can be really good for your health in the long run," said Julia Gustafson, PacificSource Health Plans Executive Assistant.

The next session of "Get Out, Get Covered" will be held at Yellowstone Valley Brewing on Wednesday, March 5th, from 4 to 6 PM.

Streets that run for several blocks, without a single street light. It is a dark reality many residents throughout the Magic City face when the sun goes down. Leo Robinson lives on Monad Rd., east of 24th Street. He said if street lights were placed on Monad, safety for everyone would improve. Terry Smith, City Traffic Engineer, said the city is more than willing to work with anyone, on any street, which lacks street lights.
