BikeNet's Future Plans

BILLINGS -

BikeNet has some big plans, and they shared them Thursday night at Billings Clinic.

The meeting was designed to give the public a look at upcoming projects, including a pedestrian bridge set to be built downtown over the railroad tracks on 25th Street. People also got the chance to ask questions and give feedback about future development.

BikeNet plays a major role in fundraising and campaigning for safe trails and paths in Billings.

Organizer Kristi Drake says whether you walk, run, or bike, Billings trails are a key part of the community.

"When I get out on the trail and I'm walking, I'm seeing all people, all different walks of life. I'm seeing kids riding their bikes to school. I'm seeing the elderly people getting their morning exercise. I see people walking their dogs, riding their bikes, running, and everybody's happy, and everybody's smiling, and people say hello. It's a place to be neighborly and connect with other people, and it's a free place to get exercise," said Kristi Drake, BikeNet Executive Director.

Since 2004, BikeNet has contributed more than $250,000 to the nearly 37-miles of trails and 18-miles of bike lanes in Billings.
