Montana's New Senator

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON, D.C. -

John Walsh is now officially a senator from Montana.

"Please raise your hand. Do you solemnly swear you will support and defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic?"

"I do," swore John Walsh.

Vice President Joe Biden administered the oath in the Senate chamber on Tuesday.

Walsh replaces democrat Max Baucus, who resigned to serve as the US Ambassador to China.

Walsh was appointed to the position by Governor Steve Bullock. Before the appointment, Walsh announced he would run for the seat and will likely face republican representative Steve Daines.
