State Senator Pleads Not Guilty

Posted: Updated:

State Sen. Jason Priest pleads not guilty in court Monday following his arrest Saturday.

He is charged with partner family member assault and resisting arrest. Documents show priest used physical force to push his wife away and fought an officer while he was being arrested. Priest was elected in 2010 to a four-year term.

Montana Senate president Jeff Essmann says the allegations against priest are a serious concern. And he intends "to discuss (Priest's) continued participation in the business of the Montana Senate."

Priest's next hearing is set for February 27.
