City Council Discusses Snow Removal

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS -

The issue of snow removal in Billings was a topic of discussion during Tuesday night's city council meeting.

The city does not begin plowing streets until there is at least two inches of snow on the ground.

Residential plowing was also discussed. Mayor Tom Hanel says sending plows into residential neighborhoods would be too costly. He says they would have to hire 25 more workers to man the plows. And the mayor says residential plowing would likely end up blocking driveways and sidewalks.

Snow plows in the future will be plowing snow to the middle of the intersection, making it easier for them to pick up the snow and move it to a different location.
