MLK Ceremony

BILLINGS -

MSU Billings hosted a ceremony Monday in honor of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. The ceremony included a bell ringing, timed to coincide with bell ringings across the nation. Civil rights leader Dr. Gerald Durley was the guest speaker for the event.

"I thought it was quite important to come because Billings, in so many instances, is so far removed from many of the civil rights and human rights issues, with a small population of two to three hundred African-Americans," said Durley. "But Dr. King was not just about African-Americans, he was about changing the values and the culture for all people."

Eran Thompson gave a recitation of part of King's famous speech. After that, Durley challenged students to change the world, emphasizing that one person can make a difference.
