The Lockwood community comes together this weekend to remember a teen who was killed by the driver of a pickup on Becraft Lane last year.

Saturday, the Do-It-For-Dustin Campaign kicked off, and organizers urged community members to vote yes in the upcoming election for new sidewalks and street lights.

Dustin's mother, Stefeni Freese, says voting for the mill levy would prevent pedestrian-related injuries.

"We can't afford to lose one more life out here. Dustin was not the only young life. J.D. Fasching lost his life riding his bike. So, this is Lockwood's chance to speak up, to control our own destiny, and to improve our community for the safety of all," said Freese.

Ballots will be sent out on February seventh.

Voters have until 8 PM on Tuesday, February 25th, to return ballots to the Yellowstone County Election's Office, located in the courthouse.

If a mill levy passes, organizers say it would cost the owner of $200K home nearly $26 per year to fund the upgrades.
