Sheriff's Deputies Contracts

BILLINGS -

After months of negotiations, Yellowstone County Commissioners say they feel confident about a deal with Sheriff's Deputies contracts.

An out-of-state fact finder came to help the Sheriff's Deputies Union and County Commissioners negotiate deputies' employment contracts. The debate wasn't over money, but about overtime and compensation. Commissioner Jim Reno says one of the items both sides agreed on was to allow officers decide whether they want to get time off or pay for overtime each year.

"I feel a heck of a lot better at the end day than we did before we started the day," Reno said. "I believe both sides made some logical compromises."

County commissioners expect the draft to be finished by next week. It's being put together by the union and the county.
