MetraPark Honors Sandra Hawke

BILLINGS -

MetraPark holds an open house to honor a legend. Sandra Hawke is retiring from her role as marketing director at MetraPark.

The Montana Pavilion was decorated with memorabilia from Sandy's time at the Metra. Organizers even included a hat theme, recognizing Sandy's history with hats. Sandy says it was different to have a party thrown for her after being in charge of throwing parties for the past 25 years.

"So to have them honor me like this and to have people like these, you, and many others, that are here today to give me a little send off, you know it's just a big surprise," she said. "It's wonderful and I'm having a great time."

"The fun times everybody's had and I think it's fitting that she goes out thinking of all the fun that it has been," said Bill Dutcher, MetraPark's general manager. "And it has been a ride. It's been a wonderful ride and so many successes down here and she's been a huge part of it."

Sandy says her fondest memories are mostly from MontanaFair because the event brings out so many people. She has no big plans yet, but says she is going to focus on spending time with her husband and friends.

Streets that run for several blocks, without a single street light. It is a dark reality many residents throughout the Magic City face when the sun goes down. Leo Robinson lives on Monad Rd., east of 24th Street. He said if street lights were placed on Monad, safety for everyone would improve. Terry Smith, City Traffic Engineer, said the city is more than willing to work with anyone, on any street, which lacks street lights.

Hundreds of Hells Angels are coming to Cody for a national meeting this week. The motorcycle club apparently likes the northwest Wyoming town. They held their world run there in 2006. Police presence is heavy in Cody now.
