Christmas Tree Recycling

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS -

If you have a live Christmas tree that you don't want to throw away, there are places where you can have it recycled.

One of the places in the Magic City where you can drop off your tree is at ZooMontana. This year, you are asked to put the trees inside bins in the parking lot. The trees will be made into mulch for the zoo and the Audubon Conservation Center. You're asked to remove all ornaments, tinsel, and plastic wrapping. The drop off is open from now until January 26th.

In Billings, Schnitzer Recycling, Hanser's Automotive, and Rocky Mountain Compost are all places you can drop off your trees.

In Laurel, you can go to Magnum Development, and Lockwood School is the drop off location in Lockwood.

You can also drop off trees a half mile south of Shepherd on the Shepherd Highway, that's the Norm Haaland property.

In Huntley you can drop Christmas trees at the Methodist church parking lot.

Streets that run for several blocks, without a single street light. It is a dark reality many residents throughout the Magic City face when the sun goes down. Leo Robinson lives on Monad Rd., east of 24th Street. He said if street lights were placed on Monad, safety for everyone would improve. Terry Smith, City Traffic Engineer, said the city is more than willing to work with anyone, on any street, which lacks street lights.

Hundreds of Hells Angels are coming to Cody for a national meeting this week. The motorcycle club apparently likes the northwest Wyoming town. They held their world run there in 2006. Police presence is heavy in Cody now.
