Alleged Car Thief Pleads Not Guilty

BILLINGS -

The alleged car thief who drove a car into a tobacco store pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday.

Alexander Hulteng, 18, is charged with counts of burglary, theft, and criminal mischief. Last Tuesday, officers responded to a business alarm at Cold Smoke Tobacco on Grand Avenue.

They found Hulteng leaving the store and then chased him to a stolen car. As Hulteng fled the scene, officers pursued him and found the vehicle crashed at 1218 Wyoming. They later caught the suspect after a short foot chase. Officers confirm Hulteng stole two glass water pipes from the store, after using the car to back into the store's windows.
