Several hundred Montanans will lose emergency unemployment benefits unless congress steps in.

The Montana Department of Unemployment Insurance says the EUC program will end December 28th. Those who are unemployed can apply for emergency benefits after state unemployment benefits run out, which could mean another 14 weeks of benefits.

Right now, nearly 540 Montanans receive money through the EUC program. About 200 of those people are from Yellowstone County. If the program is not extended, you can check in with the Department of Public Health and Human Services for help.
