Dec 16th Busiest Shipping Day of the Year

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS -

According to the U.S. Postal Service, Monday is expected to be the busiest shipping day of the year.

The United States Postal Service said it expects to deliver 545 million packages this holiday season, and will deliver up to 152 million addresses this year.

UPS said the extra workload means that it will add an additional 55,000 seasonal employees to get the work done.

But, if you know anyone in Florida, UPS said they're adding 3,000 people during the season to help with the truck deliveries alone.

Those extra workers will sit in the "jump seat" of the truck, and make the process efficient.

Meanwhile folks in town were out at the U.S. Postal Service on Grant shipping packages and letters.

Billings Resident, Michael Malone said, " The reason I'm mailing it today is... I want it to make it there by… you know Friday, or next Monday, so it's for sure there by Christmas."

Billings Resident, Donna Baxter said, "I just had to mail a letter for my boyfriend, and didn't realize it was supposed to be the busiest day of the year."

Lewistown Resident, Brinna Boettger said, " I actually am here not to mail Christmas presents I am actually here to mail something to a friend so he can change the files."
