Posted: Updated:

'Tis the season for robberies throughout Billings, but police are making progress when it comes to catching those responsible for the crimes.

The Billings police have arrested 25yr. old Joshua Boyd Harris in connection with two robberies which occurred on December 4th at the Holiday Gas station on South Billings Boulevard and then the Town Pump on King Avenue West.

Harris was arrested on two counts of armed robbery and one count of tampering with evidence.

The string of robberies has prompted the question of what you can do to better protect your home, family and business.

Criminals will commit crimes but being able to catch those crimes on tape could make all the difference in apprehending the criminals.

"Ultimately, they need to be thinking about what can I do to deter a criminal from coming in, basically," said Kenco Security Director of Sales and Marketing, Thad Lensing.

"In the case of what we're dealing with now, the people that are being apprehended are being apprehended because there's decent images of them and somebody knows somebody that knows somebody that recognizes that person," said Kenco Security Director of Development, Mike Nys.

The answer to how you can protect your home or business best? Is to identify what you need and let experts do the installations.

"A security system which we offer, there could be camera surveillance. But there are also things you can do by utilizing your lights properly on maybe a timing switch. Making sure you don't leave garage doors open, locking your doors, clearing brush around windows and areas where they can be concealed," said Lensing.

"If you're a do it yourselfer, this is one area that maybe you should at least get the opinion of a professional before you go off and do your own thing," said Nys.

As of now, Harris is the only suspect arrested for any of the robberies. The Billings Police Department is still investigating the other robberies. Updates will be available at kulr8.com as they become available.
