Saucony Offers Grant

Posted: Updated:
BILLINGS -

You have the chance to help some schools in the Billings area get a grant to fight childhood obesity.

Saucony selected St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation to receive a grant if the Billings community can log 10,000 miles of running or walking. In the fall, the company gave running shoes to three elementary schools in Billings for students involved in cross-country.

To help out all you have to do is download an app and log your miles.

"And if you do that it will support this great grant program that we have that will support kids, workout clothes at several of the schools in Billings and it's a really cool really easy app to operate," says St. V's Foundation President and CEO Dave Irion.

Justin King with Broadwater Elementary School says, "This is a great app for not only for maybe Broadwater getting more shoes for students for our cross county members, but also for you the viewers to be active. To get out there and see what you're doing, how many miles you're putting on in a day."

You have from now until the end of December to participate. To get started you can download the Saucony run for good app through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Streets that run for several blocks, without a single street light. It is a dark reality many residents throughout the Magic City face when the sun goes down. Leo Robinson lives on Monad Rd., east of 24th Street. He said if street lights were placed on Monad, safety for everyone would improve. Terry Smith, City Traffic Engineer, said the city is more than willing to work with anyone, on any street, which lacks street lights.
