Cold Weather Closes Zoo

The cold weather is not just affecting us, but the animals as well. ZooMontana will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Executive Director, Jeff Ewelt, says with the drop in the temperature you won't be able to see the animals, because they typically stay in their shelters.

Another reason for the shut down is to protect the zookeepers from the winter elements. However, the cold will not affect the Zoo's kickoff to Zoo Lights, which begins this Friday night

"Zoo Lights will start at 5:30 until 9:00 PM. We will certainly keep it open later if the traffic warrants that, but we think it's a great opportunity to come out in a nice warm vehicle and see some great lights, and you don't have to get cold while doing it," said Ewelt.

Zoo Lights will be every weekend, and the entire week of Christmas. The last day will be December 31st.
